On 15/8/2018 Roslin Residents started an Occasional Traffic Survey, to assess traffic levels at the key junctions around Roslin. Mainly to highlight the increase in traffic from continuing development.
The results obtained were similar to the 2012 (29th November) survey, however this latest survey was carried out in August during school holidays, which results in a much reduced traffic volume.
The data available for this “Peak hour” period is 8-9am, a single hour.
The number 3.1-3.6 indicate the flow direction. We used the same labelling as available in the Taylor Wimpey planning application documents.

Notes on method
- Sample period was 5 minutes, aligned hourly
- Three folk used per sample site, two counting traffic, one monitoring the time
- Roles rotated every 15 minutes to minimise human error in the dataset
- Surveys performed during peak morning period, 7-9am. Afternoon assumed to be a spread reverse of this.
