Lothian Bus 37/N37 Penicuik (Deanbank),
This bus runs from Princes Street in central Edinburgh out to Roslin. It takes about 45 minutes. A day ticket costs £1.70, an adults day ticket costs £4 and a night bus with single tickets costing £3.50, ticket info.
Musselburgh-Penicuik

This bus runs from Musselburgh to Penicuik and stops at most of the major towns and villages in between.

Other Bus Options
If you don’t mind a bit of a walk there are many more bus options that run through Bilston from Edinburgh. It’s approximately 20 minute walk from Bilston or Gowkley Moss Roundabout into the village.

62A (First Bus) Edinburgh-Peebles This bus used to run through Roslin at night but no longer. Its generally very quick and very empty. From Edinburgh You can catch it from the bus station and at a few stops along the bridges.
15 Edinburgh-Penicuik (stops at nearby Gowkley Moss Roundabout)
47 Edinburgh-Penicuik (Stops at Bilston roundabout and Gowkley Moss roundabout)
67 – Edinburgh Bush Estate (stops at nearby Gowkley Moss Roundabout)

By car from the north: Roslin and Penicuik are signposted from the A720, Edinburgh City By-pass at “Straiton Junction”.

  • Follow signs for “A701 Penicuik, Peebles”.
  • Go past IKEA, an ASDA supermarket and a large Nissan car showroom on the left on the A701.
  • Carry straight on through the traffic lights just past the Nissan showroom, entering the village of Bilston.
  • Take the first left at a small roundabout just after you enter Bilston, signposted “B7006 Roslin”.
  • Roslin is one mile from here.
